Richard is a researcher in the security group in the Computer Science Laboratory, at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).  In the past Richard has served as a security architect for established companies such as Yahoo! and Motorola.  He has also worked at several startups and was one of the original founders of Trusted Systems Laboratories, which brought high-assurance, trusted systems designed for government customers to the commercial space.

Richard has a Ph.D. in Mathematics from UCLA.
