Lichan Hong is currently a research scientist at Palo Alto Research Center's User Interface Research Group. Lichan received his PhD degree in computer science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1997. At Stony Brook, he worked on scientific visualization and medical visualization, leading the creation of the 3D virtual colonoscopy system. From Oct 1997 to May 2000, he was a member of the technical staff at the Software Production Research Department of Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies. After that, he had a short stint at a startup in Silicon Valley, helping to build a commercial system for virtual fitting. Since joining PARC in May 2001, he has been working primarily on information visualization and 3D user interfaces. education
