The Net is changing the way every business works. In particular, new networked applications will affect the way in which organizations work with documents.
Currently, electronic document management systems are used to facilitate document-centered work on networks inside single organizations. These kinds of applications will expand to include groups outside the enterprise.
The talk will survey four areas of traditional document management and tour some Internet sites with applications in these areas:
Larry Masinter is a Principal Scientist in the Information Sciences and Technologies Lab. For several years, he's been working in three areas: Internet standards for the World Wide Web, Document Managment systems, and Digital Libraries, and on creating bridges between these three areas.
