
This talk will introduce Lexicus technology activities in the area of handwriting recognition. The presenta-tion will include a description of market drivers for emerging user interfaces, challenges of introducing new technologies into the marketplace, and specifically a description of when, where and how to use handwriting recognition in products. Demonstrations of Lexicus cursive and Chinese technology will be given. The talk will also include comments on how Lexicus is positioned to deliver state of the art research into products in an accelerated fashion.
Ronjon Nag earned an Engineering Ph.D. with research into speech recognition using hidden Markov Models at Cambridge University, a Masters in Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and was a post-doctoral scholar at the Stanford University Psychology Department, where he conducted research into connectionist models. He founded Lexicus in 1992 to realize next generation user interfaces for computers and communicators, and has served as General Manager since Lexicus was acquired by Motorola in 1993.
