Title: "Information-Age Organizations in the Information-Appliance Industry"
This talk will address ways in which firms in the information-appliance industry (and, in particular, the computer industry) are organized. The high dynamics of the industry has induced firms to organize their activities in ways that support fast response and increase the effectiveness of both human and computer-based information processing. We will discuss features of the "information-age" organization and how they correlate with success, based on the results of an industry survey. The talk is based on ongoing joint work with Johannes Ziegler and Ravi Pillai.
