The source code for SAL 1.2 is currently available for research use. The gzipped tar file contains the source code for the SAL C++ library, a command line interpreter that provides an interactive interface to most of the SAL library functions, some small example programs, and documentation in HTML format (also available online).
See the file "INSTALL" for an overview of the SAL installation procedure, using the supplied semi-automated unpacking and compiling scripts.SAL 1.2 has been successfully compiled on Sun Unix workstations running SunOS and Solaris, and on PCs running Linux Redhat 5.2. Compiling SAL 1.2 on other platforms requires minor tweaking of system library paths in various makefiles.
