Objective

In an energy-constrained environment filled with low-observable targets, distributed arrays of sensors are an attractive way to detect, track, and identify targets.  Achieving tactical awareness using such decentralized systems requires moving beyond traditional signal processing towards the identification of structures within collections of spatio-temporally-distributed signal streams. The critical technical challenge is to aggregate, represent, and maintain the structure-level information from point-wise sensor data in an irregular, dynamic, resource-constrained network.

Our primary goal in this research is to enable applications such as tactical awareness by developing novel data interpretation approaches blending statistical and model-based techniques.
